Butterflies & Moths

Butterflies are the showstoppers of the insect world. They are the one insect that most people look at and see as beautiful. They are fragile so are not threatening, they are colorful so catch the eye. But while there are some butterflies and moths that are colorful and bright, many others are not. Moths are butterflies are a challenge to photograph as they often do not sit still. They also are fragile and their wings are easily damaged. Trying to find one that is in good condition and will sit still long enough to be photographed can be a large challenge. These are the best photos of this group of animals that I have gotten over the last few years. This gallery also includes caterpillars which are slightly easier to photograph although not always quite as photogenic.
