Alaska has an amazing selection of wildflowers that cover the spectrum of colors. One of my favorite flowers up here are the orchids that we have. Their forms are amazing as are their colors and because they are somewhat rare, I find it a challenge to locate and then photograph them in the short window when they are flowering. We also have a huge variety of flowers due to our variety of ecosystems. From tundra, to alpine, to boreal forests, to rainforests, all the different ecosystems have their own flowers and I’ve enjoyed exploring this diversity whenever I’ve had a chance.
